It is based on the mixing of hot steam and natural gas. Meanwhile, natural gas decomposes into its molecules to produce hydrogen. Harmful carbon monoxide gas which arises is being sent back to the unit and converted to carbon monoxide while producing some more hydrogen gas. This method, which is generally suitable for capacities above 100 m3/h., provides high efficiency and very low unit production costs. This technology which is called as steam methane reforming (SMR), needs to have natural gas and steam resources for the system to operate.
CH4 + H2O <=> CO + 3 H2 (2)
CO + H2O <=> CO2 + H2 (3)
For needs with 50, 100, 150 m3/h., mobile hydrogen container designes are being composed. As these containers take only a few days to be installed on site, they can be easily dispatched to another location in case of future site changes. For needs bigger than 200 m3/h., the system is being installed at place as a facility and will be operated professionally.
