The laser cutting machine uses two-dimensional drawings on the flat plate to cut sheet metal by moving the focused infrared light along programmed paths. The system carries the laser light to the focusing cutting head, which moves on the fixed sheet with the help of mirrors or fiber optic cable, depending on the technology of the laser machine. The cutting process takes place by melting the material in the region where the high power laser light focuses on very small diameters. Depending on the type of material, different gases are used to spray the molten material down the plate surface. These gases come out of the nozzle where the focused laser light comes out and controls the quality of the process.
